LEADERSHIP AND CAREER DEVELOPMENT

About Sobremesa

Sobremesa is a leadership development practice that helps people strengthen how they lead, understand the contribution they bring, and move forward with greater intention.

We work with everyday, new and emerging, and established leaders who want to develop practical skills through reflection, experimentation, and real experience. We also partner with organizations to create thoughtful leadership development and learning experiences.

Career services are a connected part of this work. Preparing for an opportunity, pursuing advancement, or navigating a transition requires more than producing an effective résumé or preparing strong interview responses. It asks people to reflect on their experience, recognize their strengths and contributions, communicate their value, and make intentional choices about what comes next.

These are important career-development capabilities. They can also strengthen a person’s leadership practice by helping them better understand who they are, how they contribute, and how they want to engage with others.

Across Sobremesa’s work, the aim is consistent: to help people understand themselves more clearly, communicate with confidence and authenticity, engage with others more intentionally, and turn reflection into practical action.

Sobremesa reflects a belief that meaningful growth and learning need space.

Space to pause, notice, ask questions, consider new possibilities, and make sense of our experiences.

Space to practice, reflect, and refine.

Space for meaningful growth

Why Sobremesa?

In many Spanish-speaking cultures, sobremesa is the time spent together around the table after a meal. The meal has ended, but the conversation continues. People linger, exchange stories, listen with curiosity, explore ideas, and learn from one another.. The food may be finished, but the gathering isn't. There is space to stay, talk, listen and connect.

The idea behind the word sparked something.

Meaningful growth often requires that same kind of space. Space to slow down. To notice. To question assumptions. To try something new. To reflect on what happened. And to decide what to carry forward.

That idea inspired Sobremesa.

We aren't recreating the tradition. We're honouring what it helped us notice.

Growth needs space.

MEET THE FOUNDER

A Little About Me

Some of my most profound learning has happened after the meeting, presentation, difficult conversation, or clumsy first attempt at a new skill. It happened because someone created space for me to revisit the experience, understand it differently, and decide what to carry forward.

Sobremesa grew from that experience.

I bring more than 20 years of formal and informal leadership experience, including senior and executive roles. I hold a Master of Arts in Leadership from Royal Roads University and have spent a significant part of my career helping people, teams, and organizations strengthen leadership capability.

I understand career preparation and advancement from several perspectives. I have reviewed applications, assessed candidates, conducted interviews, and made hiring decisions. I have also pursued new opportunities, stepped into unfamiliar responsibilities, and supported professionals and leaders through change and transition.

My approach brings together practical career guidance and experience in leadership development, hiring, consulting, facilitation, and advisory work. I help people recognize what they bring, communicate it with clarity, and apply their learning in real situations.
